Not eligible for telecommuting. Position Summary The Teacher offers rigorous curriculum aligned with the State of Michigan Common Core guidelines while upholding the mission, vision, and values of the Detroit Public Schools Community District. The Teacher collaborates with families and staff to ensure students' academic success and monitors progress periodically. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Evidence of Dance content knowledge and skills, along with a valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate or Michigan Temporary Teaching Authorization (T2EA) for grades 6-12. Essential Functions Cooperate with teachers, parents, and community members. Improve curriculum through field studies as needed. Participate in conferences and professional development. Develop parent and family involvement. Synthesize school activities with colleagues for student success. Discuss student progress with parents. Enforce rules of conduct and discipline policies. Counsel students on academic and adjustment issues. Handle attendance, reports, and grades. Plan study programs suited to students’ needs. Assess and evaluate students periodically. Instruct proper use of equipment and textbooks. Maintain inventory and student records. Perform additional duties as assigned.
