Title : Field Service Engineer

Location : Colorado and travel (50% in office, 50% travel)

Pay : $80-105k base + overtime, hazard pay, and additional expense reimbursements

Overview:

A client is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their team based in Colorado. This role involves a mix of 50% on-site work in Denver and 50% travel to field sites (domestic and international) to provide field and factory support to customers and partners, while maintaining communication with internal departments. The position entails working closely with personnel on job sites to share technical knowledge and expertise, supervising installations, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and troubleshooting equipment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in control system logic for troubleshooting field units to ensure proper operation, along with PLC programming skills and knowledge of pumps, compressors, rotating equipment, and a strong mechanical background.

Required :

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold an active U.S. passport (or have the ability to seamlessly obtain one)
• Comfortable with up to 50% travel, both domestically and internationally, often with short notice
• Open to non-traditional hours, including weekend or night shifts
• Instrumentation and controls expertise
• Proficiency in control system logic (Rockwell preferred; Allen Bradley or Siemens acceptable)
• Previous experience in field roles focused on pre-commissioning, commissioning, and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of rotating equipment, including pumps and compressors (specifically centrifugal)
• Strong mechanical background
• Ability to read P&ID drawings and cause-and-effect diagrams
• Skilled in confirming hardware selection and analyzing failure modes
• Strong documentation skills; capable of creating detailed instructions to ensure smooth handovers
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage time effectively, including working independently
• Previous experience interacting directly with customers; this role involves elements of customer service

Responsibilities :

• Travel to customer sites to oversee activities, including pre-commissioning, commissioning, troubleshooting, and rebuilding existing equipment
• Troubleshoot equipment/units in the field at job sites
• Create and manage OEM documentation
• Select and confirm appropriate hardware for machines
• Provide expertise on pumps and compressors
• Perform warranty evaluations
• Train others, such as customers or channel partners
• Mentor junior engineers
