PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

As a Fleet Compliance Manager, your primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and security of transportation operations. Your tireless efforts help build a safer future for the transportation industry, where accidents are minimized, risks are mitigated, and safety remains paramount.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Developing and Implementing Safety Policies
  • Develop, execute, and maintain effective driver safety training programs in compliance with OSHA, FMCSA and company safety policies, including proper usage of the ELD systems.
  • Develop a driver and fleet scorecard to track overall safety and compliance performance.
  • Ensure drivers remain compliant with annual physicals, drug/alcohol screenings, and driver license renewals in accordance with all state, federal and local laws.
  • Manage driver logs to ensure timely and accurate completion, as well as compliance with Federal DOT regulations.
  • Report non-compliant drivers or incidents to General Manager for corrective action/discipline.

2. Conducting Regular Safety Inspections and Audits

  • Routine inspections and audits
  • Inspections of vehicles and equipment
  • Audits of facilities

3. Conducting Safety Training and Awareness Programs

  • Develop and conduct regularly scheduled Driver Safety Meetings, establishing employee training program.
  • Develop plans to reduce and prevent safety incidents/accidents by monitoring the use of safety/compliance technology and analyzing trend data based on those results.
  • Promotes a “Safety Focused” culture throughout the company that incorporates operations, safety, and maintenance departments.

4. Accident Investigation and Reporting

  • Initial response and scene preservation
  • Investigate and track all accidents to meet both company and FMCSA/DOT requirements, including post-accident drug/alcohol testing and re-training
  • Analysis and root cause identification
  • Reporting findings
  • Build and maintain Driver Qualification files, recommendations and corrective actions

5. Ensuring Regulatory Compliance

  • Responsible for registration, insurance compliance, and permits for all company equipment.
  • Maintain internal database with current driver status, license information, and DOT compliance information.
  • Schedule and conduct regular ride-along sessions to ensure driver compliance, and positive safety habits, and identify challenges/trends.

6. Coordinating Emergency Response and Crisis Management

  • Emergency planning and preparedness
  • Evacuation procedures

  • Post-incident analysis and recovery

7. Risk Assessment and Management

  • Identifying potential risks
  • Assessing impact and likelihood
  • Prioritizing risks
  • Developing mitigation strategies
  • Monitoring and reviewing

8. Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

  • Establishing safety performance metrics
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Identifying improvement opportunities
  • Implementing improvements
  • Monitoring progress and reassessment
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement

9. Collaborating with Stakeholders

  • Internal collaboration
  • Collaboration with transportation companies
  • Engagement with regulatory bodies
  • Partnerships with external organizations
  • Sharing best practices

10. Any other duties assigned by the department manager

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years+ of Safety experience in related transportation industry.
  • 2 years+ of Electronic Log compliance.
  • 3 years+ with FMCSA and DOT requirements.
  • Previously provided safety compliance to a local and non-local workforce or trucking fleet.
  • Experience handling resistance to process, procedures, policies and knows how to arrive at cooperation.
  • Provides leadership for fleet safety topic by setting an example of good safety behavior, championing safety and DOT best practices, and creating/influencing a culture of safety mindful crew.
  • Participates well as a part of a team that provides exceptional logistics service to a wide variety of clients, near and far.

EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline.
  • Additional languages – bilingual Mandarin is preferred.
