Overview: We're looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Proofreader to help the editorial team make sure our research goes out error-free. This position will report to the Executive Editor. Responsibilities: Scrutinize investment newsletters and e-letters for errors in spelling, grammar, word choice, style, and formatting, reviewing edited copy at multiple stages of the production process to ensure that it's ready for publication. Fact-check editorial content, including articles and data. Assist our layout team with the production process to spot errors or inconsistencies in the formatting of e-mails, web pages, and PDFs. Format Excel spreadsheets for publication. Perform basic-level web layout tasks using HTML and content management systems like WordPress. Qualifications: Strong grammar skills, a close eye for detail, and a strong work ethic. Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team of proofreaders. Ability to adapt to company-specific tasks and workflow and become an expert on company-specific style preferences. Basic math skills (including calculating percentage changes). Preferred: A four-year degree in English or journalism. Professional proofreading experience. Familiarity with AP style.
