Overview The Shelton Leadership Center (SLC) was founded in 2002 by General Hugh Shelton and is focused on values-based leadership development for pre-college and college students, professionals, and organizations. Position Shelton Challenge Coach/Mentor/Trainer (CMT). This is a temporary, professional nonfaculty position at NC State University. The CMTs are college-aged students who guide teams, facilitate reflections, and evaluate team performances during the Red Hat Shelton Challenge, a six-day residential program for high school students. Essential Duties Coach, mentor, and train student teams during the Shelby Challenge; facilitate reflections and evaluate team performance. Bring college-level enthusiasm, strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking to the program. Support and deepen leadership development activities aligned with Shelton’s values-based framework. Requirements and Qualifications Minimum Experience/Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum Skills/Responsibilities: Must be a current college student; commit to a full week of camp activities (6 days) plus training in May; strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a team. Preferred: Prior experience with Challenge programs is preferred but not required. Salary and Benefits Salary: $600 per week (one-time payment). Wages are taxed accordingly. Benefits include eligibility for health insurance for temporary employees, access to LEAD courses, and access to certain events and wellness programs as part of the Wolfpack Perks and Benefits. Perks eligibility is based on part-time or full-time status and specific plans are described in linked materials. Timeline and Appointment Time-limited posting.
