Job Description

The Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior executive responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership in finance, compliance, and risk management to ensure the fiscal stability and regulatory compliance of the College. The CFO collaborates with College leadership to align financial strategies with institutional goals, ensuring efficient resource allocation and financial sustainability. This role is essential in ensuring the College's financial health, operational excellence, and compliance with regulatory standards while advancing its mission of academic and community success.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Works cooperatively with College personnel to fulfill the Institution's mission as a leading provider of higher education in the community.
  2. Develops and implements strategic plans relevant to financial and compliance areas, consistent with the College’s mission, vision, values, and goals.
  3. Provides leadership in administrative activities to promote continuous improvement, effective use of technologies, and quality services.
  4. Promotes a collaborative and respectful organizational culture, fostering high morale and trust among employees.
  5. Directs the formulation and administration of the College’s annual budget, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and fiscal responsibility.
  6. Monitors and evaluates departmental budgets, assisting departments in achieving financial goals.
  7. Presents concise and accurate financial reports and recommendations to the Board of Trustees, responding confidently to inquiries.
  8. Oversees the management of College funds, including general, restricted, debt service, endowment, grant, and scholarship funds.
  9. Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations in all financial operations and reporting.
  10. Directs the development of effective fiscal policies and sound investment strategies to maximize resource utilization.
  11. Supervises the preparation and submission of accurate and timely financial reports to Federal, State, and local agencies.
  12. Provides oversight for payroll and cashiering functions, ensuring efficiency and compliance with regulations.
  13. Oversees the College’s risk management program, ensuring effective insurance coverage and compliance with legal standards.
  14. Represents the College in the community through active participation in events, public engagements, and partnerships.
  15. Participates in State and national professional organizations to remain informed of trends and standards in finance, compliance, and risk management.
  16. Develops and implements debt management and investment strategies that align with the College’s financial goals.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • CPA is required, and a Master’s plus 10 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Supervisory Experience:

  • Five or more years of direct supervisory experience, including responsibility for hiring, firing, performance management, training and coaching is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

Certified Public Accountant

Compensation is negotiable based on education and experience.
