Job Description

Family Advocate Join to apply for the Family Advocate role at Guardian Angel Settlement Association. Pay Range This range is provided by Guardian Angel Settlement Association. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more. Base Pay Range $45,000 – $48,000 per year Enrollment/Recruitment Performs tasks associated with the Family Advocate program area, including Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, Attendance (ERSEA), Family and Community Engagement, Education, and Health program services. Collect health, insurance, and income documentation for enrollment. Engage with the community to recruit families for enrollment. Recruit families and assist in completing applications and obtaining subsidies. Complete home visits to client/family residences for enrollments, due to absenteeism, or child safety/well‑being concerns (25% required). Family Support Works cooperatively with staff, families and community representatives to ensure that the program effectively meets the goals, mission and challenges of GASA and the needs of the community. Respect and respond appropriately to the culture, language, values, and family structures of each family served. Support families in being active program participants and in following program policies and requirements to build personal responsibility (such as child assessments, health documents, parenting programs, etc.). Provide social/emotional support to families and referrals to proper services in crisis situations. Provides strong, effective, and responsive advocacy for Head Start children and families, working within a relationship‑based model that practices and promotes the philosophy and mission of Head Start and GASA. Educate parents on Parent Council, Policy Council, and other available committees and community opportunities that will promote parent leadership and advocacy, along with supporting families as they engage in volunteering. Create and coordinate services and activities with families, staff, and the community to support family well‑being and promote children’s learning and development. Promote parent involvement through collaborative partnerships, which encourage the educational, social and emotional development of all Head Start families. Engage in regular communications with parents and children; provide education, information, and support using home visits, parent contacts, parent meetings and newsletters. Administrative Become knowledgeable in the use of Child Plus for the management and documentation of all work done with children and families. Responsible for monthly tracking and producing required reports for the Program Information Report data relevant to the Family Engagement service area. Design and deliver formal presentations in coordination with the Senior Director of Early Childhood Education. Ensure that all work is done in accordance with Head Stand Program Performance Standards, and GASA policies and procedures. Assist in other program areas as needed. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Organization Activities Attend and actively participate in all staff development opportunities, staff meetings, and trainings as required. Participate in agency events, meetings, and activities, which may include an occasional evening or weekend. Perform other duties as assigned. Assist in training and orientation of new staff as assigned. Abide by agency policies, procedures, and protocols. Maintain ethical and professional standards. Qualifications Bachelor’s in Human Services, Social Work, or related field. Prefer the following: Three to five years of experience working in a social work‑related field and experience working in a preschool or Head Start setting. Supervision This position is under the direction of the Senior Director of Early Childhood Education and reports to the Child Development and Education Coordinator. Salary This position is a non‑exempt (salary) position 45‑48k annual.
