$25.17 - $28.93 per hour Assignment: 2 days per week 2 hours per day (June 23, 2025 - Aug. 14, 2025) Description: Elma School District Summer Reading Book Mobile Project Spanish Speaking Paraeducator will work as part of a team to support the project drive the Book Mobile along predetermined routes in a team of two, delivering books and reading to children throughout Elma. Minimum requirements start June 23, 2025, and availability is based on the schedule Book Mobile Days beginning June 23 through August 14, 2025.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The performance elements listed below are for illustrative purposes only and do not reflect an all-inclusive scope of responsibilities.
•Join the Book Mobile in team along scheduled route, making scheduled stops plus other unscheduled stops along route when children are present
•Connect with Hispanic Community to encourage literacy
•Share and model engaging reading strategies with parents and community members verbally at stops
•Read books to students at key stops modeling engaging strategies for parents and community members
•Gather input from parents and community members including project survey and anecdotal input, and communicate input with coordinator
•Other duties as required
Required Qualifications: - Ability to read and speak fluent Spanish
- The safety and health of students and others are an essential functions of this posit ion
- High School diploma or GED
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- WSP/FBI fingerprint background clearance (fee paid by the employee)
- Meets one (1) of the following requirements
- A two-year Associate degree
- 72 quarter or 48-semester college credits, OR
- A passing score of 461 on the ETS Para Pro Assessment
- Knowledge of early childhood and elementary literacy
- Knowledge of engaging read-aloud strategies for preschool and elementary students
- Knowledge of current popular children's literature
- Ability to work well on a team
- Ability to coach children to appropriately leveled book
- Ability to engage positively and cheerfully with children, parents, families, and community members
- Ability to safely drive the book van
- Ability to lift a small box of books
- Knowledge of challenges of students and families who live in poverty
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
